The following is a guide to help choose the correct trailer voltage converter based on type of truck, trailer brake design, and electrical plug requirements.
Military truck towing a civilian trailer. Trailer has 7 way flat blade style plug. Trailer has electric brakes or air brakes. Use model UTC 2412RVEB. (*) (e) (!)
Military truck towing a civilian trailer. Trailer has 7 way round pin plug. Trailer has non-ABS air brakes. Use model UTC 2412-8. (*) (!)
Military truck towing a civilian trailer. Trailer has 7 way round pin plug. Trailer has ABS air brakes. Use model UTC 2412-8M. (*)
Military truck tractor towing a civilian 5th wheel trailer. Trailer has a 7 way round pin receptacle. Trailer has non-ABS air brakes. Use model UTC 2412-7B. (*)

Military or civilian truck towing a civilian trailer. Trailer is often used on both types of trucks and convenience of dual voltage use is important. Converter box installation will be hard wired on the trailer and existing trailer plugs/cables will be removed. Trailer has air brakes. Use model UTC 2412-7H. (*) (!) (c)
Military truck towing a civilian trailer. Converter box installation will be custom installed (hard wired) on the truck or trailer. Trailer has electric brakes or air brakes. Proper electrical receptacles and junction boxes will be supplied by customer. Use model UTC 2412GD. (e) (#) (!)
Civilian truck towing a military trailer. Trailer has 12 pin plug or if a semi trailer a 12 pin receptacle. Trailer has air brakes or air over hydraulic brakes. Use model ETC 1224-7. (t) (c)
(*) = cable from converter box to vehicle also required, sold separately. Use 7728811, 7728812, or 7728814.
(#) = electric brake power, if used, must not pass through the converter unit.
(!) = ABS air brakes not supported, brakes will not function in ABS mode.
(t) = trailer cable 7728814 recommended for semi-trailers, sold separately.
(e) = electric brakes require a brake controller supplied by the customer. The controller can be powered by our ST-340 converter. The brake signal interface unit 4M-6003 is also recommended. The blue electric brake power wire must be run to the vehicle’s trailer receptacle on socket position K.
(c) = civilian trailer cable also required. Use BE27072.
